We get ready and head to have lunch with mom. She wanted a Five Guys burger and fries. We got one for Helen too. Again, after she eats a few bites of everything she wants to take a nap. We get her settled in bed and tell her we will be back later in the afternoon and head back to meet the cousins on the beach for some photos before they leave to head back to Maryland. They got there and the kids were all bathed and dressed to go home. Our kids had been in the ocean although they said the water was freezing. We got them all together to take the photos and soon after the first one was taken, the little ones were running through the water and were soaked! Next thing they were all playing in the ocean together and having fun....clothes and all! When they left, we went back to shower and get ready to go visit mom again. The weather has gotten considerably cooler and very windy.
We again followed her around on her walk soon after we arrived. This time she took us to the cafeteria or dining room where all of the other residents were waiting for their dinner. Sadness as there are many that must be fed, others making horrible noises so it was a bit horrifying for the kids to see what happens to some of us when we get old. Still the kids are good with mom and hug her and fuss over her and she eats it up. She has been on a kick eating Jujy Fruits so I have been mailing them to her. I brought 5 boxes with me and brought them when we came at lunch and when we got back there at dinner all but two were gone....nowhere to be found. Hard to tell if it is staff or patients since we saw patients come in her room while we were there. It was aggravating to say the least to think that since she sleeps so much and can't see that her treats disappear. Anyway, I put the two remaining boxes in her nightstand to hopefully save them from disappearing with the other 3.
We stopped at the Acme across from the nursing center and bought some supplies to make a salad, spaghetti and garlic bread for dinner. When we got back to the condo the kids said the door was open to the unit. Strange, and Teresa and I tried everything and couldn't get it to lock. It is a different lock than I have ever seen as the door it totally code entry so there is a keypad that you enter a code and it unlocks the door. There is one from the parking area into the building as well. I had to text the owner and we finally got it to lock before retiring for the night again. Day 2 was now in the books.

The seagulls are freakishly large. Just sayin!
ReplyDeleteTeresa, between the stinging sand and the birds maybe you're just not meant to run this week! Did Paige get to see the freaky birds or did the wind blow them away?
